STARTING SALARY RANGE: $85,000 – $95,000/annually
LOCATION: In office; Albuquerque, NM

Position Summary:

The Associate Director of Student Programming reports to the Director of Scholarship Operations and Student Programming and is responsible for the daily operations of the Student Programming team, ensuring program delivery and achieving outcome goals in conjunction with the vision, mission, and strategic direction of Native Forward.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitors the activities assigned to Student Programming team members. As needed, provide feedback and training to team members to ensure progress toward objectives.
  • Provides supervision in planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing activities of the Student Programming team.
  • Collaborates with the Director in developing and implementing Student Programming strategies, plans, and goals; oversees daily operations and ensures compliance with grant deadlines.
  • Assists the director in establishing and enforcing budgets, timelines, and metrics.
  • Works with the COO and Development Director to maintain contract compliance and reports for all student programming and grants.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of policies and procedures as outlined in all contracts.
  • Develops an effective liaison with external partners in managing student programming grants objectives and outcomes.
  • Promotes programs and assists in publicizing them through scholarship directories, conferences and meetings, information booths, social media, and other appropriate channels.
  • Collects data and provides program information through reports to key stakeholders in all student programs and special initiatives.
  • Effectively evaluates and assesses student programming and program outcomes.
  • Plans, develops, and coordinates new student programs.
  • Provides and coordinates the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data; develops, writes, edits, and presents comprehensive statistical data and narrative program reports and evaluations. 
  • Works directly with the CEO and Development Team in organizing events and assists in planning and executing events that Native Forward holds or participates in, including receptions, banquets, and organization annual events.
  • Serves on select boards and advisory committees to increase visibility, advocacy, networking, and fundraising for Native Forward.
  • Maintains strict student confidentiality and compliance with the Family Education Right to Privacy Act.
  • Embodies Native Forward Core Values and promotes the Native Forward organization, staff, and programs positively and professionally.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishing related results.
  • Perform other duties as required. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree preferred; bachelor’s degree in a related field required, plus three years of experience in education or student affairs, including experience in a supervisory capacity or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

A valid driver’s license is required. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:

  • Knowledge of American Indian history, culture, and tribes.
  • Knowledge of academic standards governing student probation, suspension, and expulsion.
  • Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds, employees, and officials.
  • Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to interpret contracts and agreements with funding entities.
  • Ability to analyze course prerequisites, certification, and/or curriculum/graduation requirements.
  • Ability to evaluate student transcripts and/or records and financial need forms.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee, occasionally, is required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required; Tight time constraints and multiple demands are typical. Travel will be required for training, meetings, conferences, presentations, and other events.
