Bio

I am a third-year graduate student in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at the University of North Dakota. Additionally, I am in the Indians into Psychology Doctoral Education (INPSYDE) program and am the head recruiter of Native Americans into the program. Currently, I am a Mental Health Clinical Trainee providing mental health intervention and assessment services to children for the White Earth Tribal Mental Health Services. Thus far in my academic career, I have seen the need for more mental health providers working with ethnic minorities, specifically Native Americans.

My research interests are cultural identification and substance use, specifically among American Indians. I was able to conduct my master’s Thesis Project using a sample of American Indian college students, where I examined cultural identification and alcohol use. My goal from my research is to be able to create treatments for substance use that consider cultural considerations for Native Americans. I am an enrolled tribal member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and American Indian studies in 2016. I recently defended my thesis and will receive a Master of Arts.
