My Name is Kakiley Workman. I attend Northeastern State University and I will be graduating in December with a Master’s in Leadership. I have worked for my Tribe for two years now as a scholarship advisor. Due to receiving the Gates Millennium Scholarship in 2014, it has been a dream job to work with Native students to help bridge that gap between high school and higher education. I try to spend my free time with Cherokee Nation Medicine Keepers to revive medicinal knowledge within a few local communities as well as learn my native language from these elders. I also enjoy getting to speak with high school seniors about the Gates Millennium Scholarship. I am grateful for Native Forward and all it has done for me in my higher education journey.
