Callie Edgewater is a member of the Navajo Nation and was born and raised in Greasewood Springs, Arizona. It was on the Navajo reservation that she discovered her passion for helping to improve the quality of living for her people through reliable water delivery through sustainable management. She is now pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering at Arizona State University. She enjoys her courses because they enforce her to think logically to solve complex problems that can make a difference in the world. She is an advocate for Native American students in the STEM field and shows her support by representing the states of Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado as the American Indian Science and Engineering Society Region 3 Student Representative.

Both her experiences at ASU and AISES have made a significant impact on her academic and professional career goals. She believes that the opportunities and experiences they have provided outside of the traditional curriculum will prepare her for a successful career. Her best experience is being able to collaborate with other students, and professionals with similar passions in the engineering field, all while expressing her Native American heritage. After she graduates, she intends on applying her obtained skills and experience to return to the reservation to apply engineering fundamentals that relate to environmental conservation and stability. She is looking forward to completing the last year of her undergraduate degree and making a positive impact on the Navajo Nation.
